330 am

April 21, 2007

There was loud banging on our door.  A young woman was crying hysterically.  Requested that we call a cab.  While trying to do so the newspaper delivery woman pulled in to our driveway.  She kindly gave the woman a ride home.  Another mystery.

Good thing the plan to go visit Allie in Campbell River is for tomorrow.  We are taking the 830 am ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay (Nanaimo) and then driving north to Campbell River with a stop (possibly) to ‘catch’ some oysters.

a new bird siting - identified!

With the arrival of spring in these parts, there are also new (to me) birds in the hood.  I just saw one I had never seen before:  sparrow size, grey with yellow splotches and a white patch on its tail.  How is this for a description?  I went to WhatBird:  The Ultimate Bird Guide (at http://identify.whatbird.com/mwg/_/0/attrs.aspx) and I think the bird I saw is some type of warbler (definately not a goldfinch).  Our neighbor has a few bird field guides so I will ask to borrow them and see if I can make a definitive identification.

The mystery bird fits the description of a Yellow Rumped Warbler.

Phew - “Catholic Church buries limbo after centuries”

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - The Roman Catholic Church has effectively buried the concept of limbo, the place where centuries of tradition and teaching held that babies who die without baptism went.

In a long-awaited document, the Church’s International Theological Commission said limbo reflected an "unduly restrictive view of salvation."
