BC flea dirt

July 12, 2006

Och, realized last night that E-dog has fleas mostly because the exterior part of her ears have what I now know is called "flea dirt".  Fleas are v. common here and most natives start preparing their pets in May with doses of Advantage or another flea and heartworm combo. called Revolution.  How was I to know!  Ella has never had fleas to my knowledge.  I bought some Advantage today and applied it - it is supposed to kill the little buggers in 24 hours.  Fingers crossed.  Having had bad flea dreams last night I have vacuumed her favourite areas, washed her bed in hot water.

Fortunately, fleas don’t seem that fond of me … seems that fleas bother some people far more than others.   I am not aware of any bites that I have received.  Though I was wondering about Ella’s recent behaviour as she has been nibbling and flapping her ears - no wonder with all that flea dirt!  Hope the situation is now under control but with all the flea hiding spots in the wall to wall carpet (a common BC decor despite all the hardwood one sees on trucks every day) it may take some time to establish a no flea zone.

Caroline - India update II

Caroline arrived at the Toronto Airport to no air ticket.  My sis was worried about arrangements (or lack of) at her destination in New Delhi so strongly recommended that Caroline put off this venture until another time when the trip was more organized.  So Caroline returned to Kingston … poor kid (but at least she had a goodbye party on Saturday nite!)  She had bought stuff for the kids she hoped to work with.  However, the bombings in Mumbai must be making people nervous even in Delhi and both my sis and I would have worried slightly about how she was making out.
